Risk Management
What are the risks of undertaking a construction project?
Poorly defined projects, lack of coordination between engineering disciplines, errors and omissions in the drawings and specifications, poor tender documents, a lack of financial controls and site conditions such as geotechnical results, are just some of the risks that confront a client’s project.
How do we mitigate these risks? We mitigate the risks by putting in place policies and procedures that define the project’s requirements, value engineering reviewing the design and specifications to ensure coherence between engineering disciplines reducing errors and improving efficiencies.
Another very important risk aversion measure is a well defined trade contract to control costs, and a firm financial procedure to control project expenditures.
Technical Experience:
Over the last 25 years, we have applied for just about every permit you can apply for: development, building, demolition, street use, indemnification agreements, rezoning applications, deep service connections to city utilities and lane closures. We have installed shoring to protect surrounding properties for the purpose of excavating a foundation for basements and parades. We are experienced in the structural elements of buildings including, concrete, steel or wood construction.
Having conducted over 100 audits on existing buildings, we are very familiar with building envelope issues, mechanical and electrical systems. We like to be involved in the design process to ensure we get an efficient and cost effective product in the end. On our client’s behalf, we have sought out the architect and consultant team for the project, or we have worked with the client’s already established design team.
